Are you passionate about supporting strategic decision-making, and developing and implementing contemporary Community Engagement Frameworks? This job could be for you!

In this role as a Senior Community Engagement Officer, you will be developing and implementing a contemporary Community Engagement Framework, and provide specialist advice across Council in the Southern Downs to support strategic decision-making and organisational capability. You will develop strategies and collateral to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders impacted by a range of Council projects and activities by using your experience in developing and delivering diverse stakeholder engagement programs in Government, especially face-to-face, online and social media through workshops and forums. While working with our Communications & Marketing staff, you will assist in the development and operation of SDRC's digital engagement portal with website content and online engagement activities, and build effective relationships across the organisation to facilitate a coordinated and consistent approach to community engagement.

 

Term:                         Permanent, Full-time

Hours of Work:         72.5 hours per fortnight

Pay Level:                 $3,799.44 to $4,011.70 per fortnight (Level 6), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading 

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience. 

Employment Base:  Warwick, Queensland

About the Department

The Strategy, Growth & Stakeholder Engagement Department works collaboratively with industry, business groups and the broader community to support long term prosperity for the Southern Downs region. It is a multi-disciplinary Department that includes research and advocacy, community engagement, economic development, grant acquisition, communication and marketing, and festivals and events.

  • Support strategic project outcomes through stakeholder insight;
  • Lead engagement planning for major or complex Council initiatives; and

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • The legal right to live and work in Australia
  • MANDATORY POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    • Preparedness to work flexible hours outside the scope of normal business hours (early mornings, evenings and/or Saturday).
  • REQUIRED LICENCES & QUALIFICATIONS
    • ​​​​​​​A person in this position will need to hold a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Humanities, or Social Science from a recognised University, or a combination of extensive experience, expertise and competence; and
    • A Class C (Car) licence or greater.
  • ​​​​​​​Demonstrated ability in research and the interpretation of data using both quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Ability to develop a wide range of documentation, including articles and factsheets, that encourages active engagement and reports on outcomes of engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle priorities and manage competing deadlines in a complex project environment
  • Experience in consultation and the use of social media for stakeholder engagement
  • To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
